Only four car manufacturers managed to reduce the level of emission of harmful substances into the atmosphere.
Specialists from the British analytical agency Jato Dynamics conducted a study according to which they found out the level of CO2 emissions from new cars carzaamin.com in Europe. For comparison, a sample was made for 2018 and 2019. And the results were disappointing. Despite the tightening of environmental standards that came into force in the fall of 2018, the level of emissions in 2019 increased slightly. At the end of 2019, the average CO2 emission per vehicle was 121.8 g / km. In 2018, this figure was 120 g / km. As a result, the growth rate was recorded for the third year in a row.
If we analyze the five largest car markets in Europe – Germany, France, the UK, Italy and Spain, a reduction in CO2 emissions was observed only in France.

Cars of other brands at best retained last year’s result. Experts are sure that to solve the problem it is necessary to stimulate sales of hybrid cars. Aston Martin will replace the AMG engine with a hybrid “six”
Aston Martin has been using the German V8 powertrain from Mercedes-AMG for several years, but now the company has decided to start using a hybrid powertrain instead.
The British brand has been installing a 4.0-liter turbocharged V8 engine from Mercedes-AMG for Vantage and DB11 for a couple of years, and it is also planned to equip it with the brand’s debut cross-brand – DBX.
But, as Andy Palmer, the head of the car concern, said in an interview with Car and Driver, the brand is already going to use its hybrid unit instead of the German power plant. It will be developed on the basis of the V6 petrol turbo engine, and the overall performance due to the electric motor will be comparable with the current V8 from AMG.
The first Aston Martin, which will be equipped with a new hybrid powertrain, will be a Valhalla supercar, its production is scheduled for the 2022nd. They are going to release a mid-engine car with a body made of carbon fiber in the amount of 500 units.
But the British brand does not plan to abandon its V12 engine – it will be used for several more years, but the production of the power unit will be transferred from Germany to the UK.
